You can cut it, but many of us allow the scape to wilt, allowing moisture to return to the bulb. Scapes break with no apparent ill effect, so if ya just can't stand it... cut it!

Especially if you have a well rooted bulb then cut the stems by all means if you don't plan to hybridize. I know it's better for the stem to die naturally so the energy is absorbed back into the bulb (so they say), but when I do cut them I leave about 5 inches at the bottom. When this dries you can just pull it out of it's natural slot and there won't be any rot issues due to a rotting stem...Donna
