First....I would make sure there are no agricultural restrictions going into FL...I know CA and AZ are picky (if traveling by car). But...that's a separate point.

If it were me, I'd put them in my carry on...take a magazine and roll it around the bulb to creat a sleeve for the leaves and scape. Secure it with rubber bands and then pack it in the middle of the carry on so that it is well protected. That's what I'd do. You can unpot the one and repot it when you get to your mother's. It will take some creativity on your part, and expect to have your bag hand inspected, but it's doable!
