Hello to You all!

Many thanks Maria and Mauro for sending seeds. That makes me again a bit buisy sowing some new Hippies.

I think, the most of You prefer the wather methot for sowing seeds.

I like to put mine in a paper towel, fold it to cover the seeds from both sides and than i put the towel carefull in a brochure cover (so called here in Germany). A zipbag will work too, i think.

Than i add water with a bit Captan or hydrogenperoxide (3%).

That brochure covers i stick on a windowglass or on a shelf.

I love that way, because i dont have to touch anything, to see the germination and the growth.

The only thing You have to avoid, is that the little germinatet Amaryllis stay to long inside and the roots grow to much in the paper. The first roots lies only flat on the paper, when You open it, but when they make branches, they grow in the paperfibres and You damage them, when You remove them for planting.
