the very lovely 'ruby star'

Hi,

Well my 'Ruby Star' is in full bloom and it's simply gorgeous! The stalk is 14" and there are 5 flowers that measure between 5 and 6 inches depending on how curly the flower is. The petals are quite narrow which makes the flower look smaller than it actually is. The color is amazing, a dark wine red, which turns more towards purple when the light is lower. The filaments are very long and very white and they almost glow when you look at the flowers from a distance. The white against the dark wine/red is striking and the star in the center is a mint green. It surely must be a h. papilio hybrid don't you think? Anyway, I think you all should go and buy one. This one is the bulb that had the huge gash in it..not sure if it's rooted yet, but it sure is blooming up a storm! Take a look....
