Hippeastrum hate wet feet and rot probably kills more bulbs than anything else. I water mine once when I see green and then about once a week or less after that. I suggest to let them dry out in between watering. Don't let them stay dry, but.... Stick your finger well into the soil and if it's damp at all, hold off for a couple of days and check again.
