I think the flower is very well proportioned and could easily compete with the reds out there. Very nice! - Maybe the next generation would bring out the parents' characteristics a bit more?

I made a cross with 'Fairytale' x 'Apple Blossom'. The seedpod was big and promising but gave only a few healthy seeds out of which I have three small seedlings now growing. Would like to know more about 'Fairytale' as a parent... Doesn't it have H.papilio in the background?

I agree that the proportions are nice. Don't know much about Fairy Tale, unfortunately. I no longer have it. But I'll do some research. Thanks for your comments.

I too think you have a lovely red flower..but I shy away from using reds (unless I want red) as reds tends to be too dominant to let anything else come through..I have some Benfica x papilio and all I can hope for is a dark red with a pleasing change in the shape..(I only have a few of those). I also have several crosses with Fairy Tale..with Lemon Star and with Estrella.(I think I have some with Pink Diamond also) I have great hope for the Fairy Tale x Lemon Star..they are very vigirous.

Thanks for the welcome, Donna. I neglected the forum for a number of years and I'm glad to see it's still thriving. I'm back now that some of my seedlings are blooming... It has been a fun experiment. Didn't know about the red dominance, but it makes sense. Your Benfica x Papilio cross should be interesting and I'd love to see them. I will be back... also to share a picture of Fantastica, which gets better each year.

Those solid reds are loaded with pieces of the characters of all their ancestors. Just self pollenate them and the seeds will sort themselves. into a respectable range of colors/patterns. Vive la F2 generation.
