This is very pretty! Is this a descendant of Papillio?

I believe this is supposed to be a papilio hybrid. I'd love to know what it was crossed with!!

I remember Ratatouille being more of a rusty pink but similar in markings and shape.

Here is a picture of my second smaller bulb of Party Pooper taken a few years ago and you can see this one had a much nicer ruffle on the edges. No signs of any buds on this one yet though...Donna

I find it a little funny that such a beautiful bloom was given a name that suggests disappointment. Your H. Party Pooper blooms are lovely Donna!

Perhaps they chose that name because it is a reluctant bloomer? I find it so, this particular bulb is huge, as large as the "mother" bulbs that they sell and all it produced was the one scape with 2 flowers. Neither of my bulbs bloomed last season either, whereas Party Animal blooms each and every year with lots of lovely flowers...just a thought as I too agree it is rather an inappropriate name once you've seen its lovely flower...

I will admit though that I have always let these bulbs grow as evergreen and perhaps if I forced a dormancy I would get better results.
