Hippi seedling question

I've read that seedlings of some bulbs benefit from a light trimming back of the leaves during the growing season. The arguement is that this causes the bulbs to bulk up faster. The same article indicates that trimming back the roots when the seedlings are being potted up or transplanted has the effect of causing more extensive root growth.

Has anyone tried this with hippeastrum seedlings? I might experiment with some expendible/NOID seedlings...

Rick, I see no one seems to have an answer for you so I just thought I'd add that when I received my mandonii bulb a year or so ago the leaves had been cut down to I'd say a third..those cut leaves didn't grow any more but new ones appeared as those all turned brown. There were more leaves on this bulb when I first got it than now..not really an answer to your question though I guess...

By the way, do you still have your blue eyed kittens/cats by now running around your place?
