Thanks everyone, I was shocked when I saw this one blooming I have to admit as I figured we were way past the normal bloom time for them in my climate/conditions. I have a H. blossfeldiae blooming so I tossed some blue pollen on just for fun to see if a miracle happens, but not holding my breath for that bizarre intergeneric :o) Dan

Bravo once again Dan. Fine work, both growing and photographing. My little clump, yet to bloom, remained healthy last summer but didn't grow in diameter or height. Do you ever see them sulk?
I though I had the same conditions as the year before when they grew quite well.

HI Pat, To be honest, I find that they grow the fewest leaves during the heat of summer. They really like the cooler weather and produce a lot of leaves in the spring and fall. Having said that, they really put on some bulk during the summer when they are soaking up the suns rays, but they grow very few leaves. I know that one of the growers in FLA that has them in Mexico says that they do not like the heat/humiidty of FLA which makes sense based on them coming from the mountains outside of Rio. I hope that the seedlings I kept from my previous seeds put on some nice growth again this summer. Hopefully yours will get some cooler weather and take off for you :o) Dan
