More from Ann's Seed-Sisters. Is it possible a single and a double from the same batch of seeds? Last year the double was strange looking, this year it's more focused on one flower rather than 2 grown together.

So.. the second picture is this year's flower..that's some double..look at all the pollen..just beautiful..

They are side by side THIS YEAR Donna. They came from the same seed batch a few years ago from Ann. Last year they bloomed far apart. The double looked like 2 flowers welded together, this year it's more a whole bloom, weird how the filaments look like antennae hovering over it. I think it's charming!

i was glad to see them blooming together. They both have 2 scapes, 3/4 flowers each.

Cindee, Let us know if the rest of the flowers on the double bulb are doubles also..hope so..and it IS charming...

Forgive me for being slow. School has been overwhelming because I am involved in too many things. A bad case of the flu and other things hasn't helped.

To answer your question about doubles, the chance of getting a double when crossing a single with a double (single pod parent, double pollen donor) is much less than what you would expect.

Unfortunately, most doubles do not have well defined and functional stigma, so it is difficult to have a double pod parent (produce seeds).

You have done a superb job, and yes, I would love to try a few seeds, but I make no promises as it appears that I am going through a rather hectic time in life. We all know about those, don't we?
