There are certainly some surprises when producing hybrid Hippeastrum, but this one is more the kind of thing you might reasonably expect, something intermediate between the two parent varieties. This was a cross between a bright deep red Carmen, and the large pale pink Apple Blossom. The offspring here has very large flowers with the size and shape of Apple Blossom, but has retained some of CarmenâÂÂs red colour.
