Yes - maybe thompsonii? Don't know, but this is the common one around here. Most of these flowers were from offshoots of the originals in the last few years. Here's a nice apple blossom also flowering in the community garden.

It is obviously a hybrid with H.vittatum parentage, but it is not H.x johnsonii. The white midribs are way too "pronounced".

Ahhh, H. xjohnsonii! Obviously everyone has already answered whether it is or not. H. xjohnsonii is one of my absolute favorite cultivars too, I love it!

Your plant looks like another old heirloom, H. vittatum and H. psittacinum could very well be the parents!

Many thanks for that. Would H. vittatum x psittacinum have a common name? We always just call them "red and white" which is not very satisfactory

No, it doesn't have a common name, that's just what I see in the flowers.

It's possible these are H. xackermannii as that is H. xjohnsonii x psittacinum. There is also xackermannii pulchermia *sp?* that I think is a mix of H. xjohnsonii x H. aulcium.

Thanks for the useful information. The antrance path to our community garde is lined with these, and they produce a lot of offshoots, so the amount gets larger every year. They are quite unobtrusive for most of the year but suddenly comne to life in April
