Question on trimming of basal plate

I recently separated a mother bulb and a daughter bulb and noticed that there was a thick basal plate on the mother bulb. It has never been really a strong growing bulb, and I have the daughter so whatever happens it wouldn't necessarily be a total loss, but a chance to experiment and learn. I thought I'd try the basal plate trimming trick to see what that would do. So I looked up Maria's post about it, and did the deed, but I am not sure about the next step, the best conditions for the growth of the new roots on the bulb. She doesn't specify that, just shows the pretty result the next year. Should I make a tent over it like I would for cuttings? Bottom heat? Special soil? Wet? Dry? Help!

Here is a link that might be useful: Maria's post
