Red Spot Water Treatment

Hi there,

I am fairly certain my Amaryllis has Red Leaf Spot, but I'm not sure how to treat it. I've read that the common way fix the problem is to submerge the bulb in 104 degree water for 30 minutes. Problem is, my bulb is planted with leaves, roots, and a new flower on the way (but the steam is half eaten through :-( ). Do I unplant it, trim off the leaves, flower, and roots till its just a bulb, and then submerge it?

In an attempt to save the bulb, I'd consider the treatment. You can always get blooms next year. Hot water treatment is fairly temperature sensitive. Too cool and you do nothing, too hot and you do harm. There was an extensive post about HWT for pest, involving big pot, big heating pad, and thermometer. Towels provided insulation as needed. Read up and good luck!
