I don't have a 'Hercules' but I wanted to comment that yours are really pretty :) How many do you have in your yard?

I have to go look up that old forum thread where Kristi writes an ode to Hercules. It was a classic!

Josh, I purchased a dozen "Hercules"/"whatever" in 2005 or 2006. They have been in the ground since purchase. All bulbs now have 2-3 offsets that are full-sized, mother bulbs. So that is 24-36 bulbs, somewhere in that ball park. In March, each bulb puts up two scapes, each one with four flowers. Then about two weeks later each bulb will put up a third scape and a few weeks later, most will send up a fourth scape.

I have never liked them but for years I worked 60-70 hours a week and didn't have time to really do much in the yard or about these, specifically. So they sat there and grew and grew and grew. The bulbs are absolutely enormous. But no matter how you slice and dice it, they are still an unnamed red. This year, I have a little more time and am making lots of changes in my yard. Getting rid of all the red, orange, striped and whites that have lingered in my yard for years. Planting all the seedlings from last year. Lots and lots of changes with many other plants. Finally getting my dream yard out of my head and into reality! Yay!

Wait, my math is wrong. Some have three offsets. That means there are 36-48 bulbs in that part of the bed. All the originals plus the babies. All I know for sure is there are a LOT!
