What is the flower "supposed" to be..it sort of looks like a conjoined flower to me..just curious. Or, is it supposed to be a double as doubles quite often put out a tangled mess of partial reproductive parts..almost looks from your picture that you might have a two headed stigma..?

I believe this is an offspring of Red Lion since I don't see any yellow in the throat. In 2007, all I had to work with was a Red Lion my mother purchased and a handful of reds with yellow in the throat which looks a lot like Amigo. My friend said they were growing in her yard when she moved in and then sent some to me. I have no idea if this bulb was selfed or crossed. I didn't even realize there was a Red Lion in the batch at the time until it was pointed out to me.

If this is a Red Lion or an offspring of Red Lion then I'm pretty sure you do have a con-joined flower of sorts..which explains the double parts..there are way too many petals..;-)

I can't wait to see the rest of the blooms. I know they'll all be normal but... if the rest seem to pull the weird 'double stunt', that'd be unusual! To think I bred a weird bulb that does that... hehe.

Wow, that's really interesting! I love seeing all the pics of it. Definitely keep us posted on how it continues to develop, and on how any of the other blooms look. Really neat! I like it.

By the way, I don't think leaving a post at the top for just a couple days is too long at all, LOL.

One of the other blooms on the scape opened today and it's quite normal. :) Which is too bad... I was sort of hoping I bred something unusual. hehe.
