Problems getting Rio Negro to root

I seem to have endless troubles getting my Rio Negros to root! I bought my first one last year and after blooming it eventually rotted. This year I bought another and after blooming it still has no intensions of rooting and I got 2 more as mislabels also this year and neither of those two will root either!! I do love Rio Negro's flowers and I got 3 of the 4 bulbs to produce great flowers but that's it! Obviously I am doing something very wrong but I am keeping them on the dry side since my very first one rotted. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I know some cybisters are a bit finicky about rooting, Chico for one for me is difficult to root but not like Rio Negro!!!
