Are you saying that the leaves are 4 inches or the scape is 4 inches? If a bulb is stressed, it may bloom on a short scape. Don't rely on the height as described until it is healthy and established.

The bulb grew 4 or 5 inches out of the soil and set a bloom. I have 2 more doing the same thing. I don't know if it will keep growing and rebloom or what. I guess I will just watch them and see what they do.
