anyone up for a sale?

I just noticed that Brent and Becky are having their 50% off sale going on now.

So...... if you thought you were done with new bulbs this year and are having withdrawl problems, you might want to take a look! Fresh blooms in July might not be a bad thing.

I on the other hand am being good. No new bulbs for me this year... but 50% off is nice and my mental image of a planter full of 5-6 flowering amis on the patio is very tempting. Hmmmmmm. I thought I was through my amaryllis addiction. Better call the therapist quick and get away from you enablers.

I'm opting to wait until fall... when the freshly harvested bulbs will be available from sellers. I have too much to do in the outdoor gardens to worry about more hippis blooming right now... on the other hand... hmmmm... maybe I'll just go have a quick little look-see...

I was well behaved. By the time I got back it seems there were only red varieties left and a few that didn't do much for me. But I am still thinking about a big summertime tub of flowering hippis. Maybe next year!

This year I should just try and take better care of the ones I have.

That's my goal... to give the collection I already have the best of care... I want lots of blooms next year so I can breed!

Plus... I have so much gardening going on outdoors, I hardly have time to do everyday things I need to get done... like laundry! Getting new bulbs right now would be nice, but I'd rather concentrate on what I have... autumn will come soon enough!

50%off the bulb price = 50% off the bulb quality

With hippeastrum bulbs anyway at this time of the year. Poor quality bulbs can take 1-2 seasons to recover if they get lucky.

I'll pass...

I agree, Maria... anything that is 50% of the original price can't be very fresh... that's why I'm opting to wait until fall... the freshly harvested bulbs will be in then.
