Unknown Cybister type

Can anyone identify this flower?

It is clearly not one of the better known cybisters like La Paz or Lima. Chico could be the closest.

I'm from Australia and a number of people have this variety,, from the Netherlands apparently.

Could this be Chico?

Hi Alan,

To my eye, your Cybister is definitely not Chico. Chico's tepals are very different.

Alan, this is the closest I can find to yours, yours being paler. What do you think about Lugwig # 98-60?

Here is a link that might be useful: Ludwig # 98-60

Thanks for that Donna - very close.

Are Ludwig and Berbee US companies?

#98-60 is described as a very tall plant, so is mine, see pic below plant on left ( cybister x papilio is on right).

Alan...Here's a pic of my Ludwig 98-60's which I nicknamed "Marikit" until they are officially registered.
They are the ones on the right with very thin cream green petals and a definite brownish red stripe on it's petals.

Your cybister hybrid has "sweet" colors though and I like it!!!

I forgot to mention that your cybister x papilio is beautiful! I have several from this cross about 2 yrs old and a handful from a recent cross. I love the results of this combination!

I don't know exactly which cybister was used in my cybister x papilio but it is a good grower and flowers reliably every spring.

Donna do you know which cybister parent is in your cross?

Regarding the true cybister species from Bolivia is it commonly grown in the US?

Chico is the cybister that I use and that is readily available over here.

Alan,

Two years ago a friend gave me about 12 papilio x Chico seeds and I have about 6 healthy, just under golf ball sized seedlings. I also did the cross myself this season and only netted about 15 viable seeds in comparison to papilio x Tango which yielded about 50+ most of which I have germinated and am growing currently, what have I done if they all live!!
