This Red Lion is the first ever rebloom for me and I owe it to the advice I found by lurking here. So I just had to emerge and thank you. I bought it at Walmart in fall of '09 and tossed it outside after the holidays because I just have had no success after many years. The bulb was still viable in the spring so I stood it up in the flowerbed and ignored it until fall when I noticed it looked pretty good and I began consulting this forum. We had a cold winter so I dug it up and put it in a pot in the laundry room. I put it outside in March and here it is blooming. I've got the one from this year going now too. The best advice I found here was to just treat it like any other plant and don't try to force blooms in the winter. Thank you so much! |

| I know how you feel. Although almost anyone can grow an amaryllis from first-year purchase, it is truly satisfying to have a reblooming plant. That is something which is just not happening for me, even though I am doing everything right. Because I am addicted to these wonderful blooms, I buy bulbs each year - and rarely discard any unless the situation is hopeless, such as NBF attack or complete decline of the bulb. Good for you! |
