That is very beautiful, do they always have variegated leaves like yours, I see a slight variegation on the above photo..I would be pleased to get one of those as a mislabel...

because it is a mutation of the Festalis, a flower in her the same, but the leaves are striped. This variety of like many similar variegata reproduces very slowly.
It arose by chance among the hundreds of ordinary in my garden for a long time, but until now I have it so little that I had not even registered.

What a pretty flower! I definitely understand the disappointment though... an amaryllis, it is NOT!

The following is from the Dave's Garden website:

Genus: Hymenocallis (hy-men-oh-KAL-is)
Species: festalis (FES-tuh-liss)

So, apparently they are of the Amaryllidaceae Family... but not one of our beloved hippeastrums. -Tina
