Thank you soo much for that email. After removing all the dry tissue around the neck I see a tiny leaf on the unbitten and the tiny bulb. The unbitten one has a root forming but I missed and knocked it off. So those seem to be good. The bitten one has roots but no roots have grown. After cutting some of the neck off I see a leaf and no rot or brown stuff on any of them just red spots and redness where it was bitten.

I had bulbs which i forgot to water and they died. I just left them but when i was about to throw them out i noticed 1 had a healthy root so i repotted them all and watered them. After a few months i saw leaves coming up from some of them.

So don't give up hope and put them somewhere warm to induce growth.

They can take a while to get started but once they do, i've noticed some roots increase by a few centimeteres in just one night.

Hippis really want to live! No matter the abuse, they can amaze you! Hope you found the "suggestions" helpful.

I was out on the side yard, in the rain, picking off snails! UGH! Some of the bulbs have leaves that would nearly come up to my shoulders. Yes...they are in 1-gallon pots, but that's still a good 4.5'+ for length. It's good to see that they are soooo happy. This can be a very stressful time of year. Temps of 100 and dry. I think I finally have the watering and shade down.

Someone was discarding HUGE framed window screens (6' x 3') and so I attached them to the frame around the pots and leaned them on one side to protect from hot southern sun. Bulbs are very happy!! Hope this means lots of blooms in March-June 2014!

Even my Komoriya bulbs have already put out 6+ leaves so, although those leaves were cut for shipment, I think it looks like we'll get blooms again in the spring.

My own crosses from 2-3 years ago are thriving...so I am really looking forward to LOTS of blooms!!

Donna... hehe! Aw come on... You've seen the pics in the past. You know they just get huge over the summer. I'd post another photo, but since I'm using the phone's camera, it would probably be sideways or upside down. Ya know...aggravating for everyone...even me, since they look fine when I post them!
