Edens Blooms

Hey,

I am getting ready to rebuild my collection of amaryllis now that I have a house to grow in rather than moving between apartments. I have put together orders from places I ordered from 4 to 5 years back like John Scheepers and McClure and Zimmerman. I am mainly concentrating on miniatures and cybisters with a few exotics and species mixed in. In my searching for sources I found edensblooms.com and was wondering what anyone's experience with them is? They have a lot that I am interested in and will drop $$$ with them if I hear that they are reliable. I look forward to hearing other's experience.

I've not personally ordered from them. However, they do have positive reviews on Dave's Garden.

There was some question though as to whether or not they were related to the TyTy/Aarons out of Georgia which has a history of complaints.

It's entirely possible that it is merely coincidence his name is also Aaron, as they are located in Arizona. Apparently he sells a lot on eBay, so that would be a good place to check out his reviews.

RE: Edens Blooms

DO NOT "drop your $$$" with them like I did. Try ordering a few bulbs first. You know...just to get the free shipping offer. The you can see the quality and size of their bulbs. If you are satisfied, you can always order again.

I had a very long and painful experience with them or should I say "him". All supported with proper documentations (pictures and papers).

Good luck!!!

RE: Edens Blooms

So they are the same person? That's a bummer!

Hello, here is the link to the post of last year experience with edenblooms, with comments of most of the members, I hope it helps.

RE: Edens Blooms

I don't think they are the same person at all.

I think the problem last year was with Eden's SA (South African) bulbs- they were very small (thus cheap)and arrived late, after being routed through holland. I had poor luck with these smaller bulbs.

The Dutch cybister bulbs I ordered were of a nice size and were healthy and successful. I think this Aaron from AZ is nothing like the one from GA. Az Aaron responded and replaced frozen bulbs for me. (But the SA varieties are small) Personally, I think he has a great variety of cybisters (and those I received were nice), did you have problems with those Maria(VA)?

Someone on this forum was in contact with Az Aaron and was discussing a group order. Everyone was excited over the possibility of getting SA bulbs that haven't been available in the US. Price was based on bulb size. I think some thought a small bulb might have a longer rebound after traveling from SA to Holland to the US. I believe the cybisters originate in Holland, and as a result are less stressed. Also they were normal size bulbs. I would send an email to AZ Aaron to clear up these questions before you give up.

Think of it like you think of the 2 Ryans we have here: We know one's a bad guy, but WHICH ONE?

 o
SA and Edens

TEASING, Ryans...
But we did have alot of conversations about Edens last year. Here is the link to 'ordering Hadeco varieties we lust after' and how size matters:

RE: Edens Blooms

Aaron (Edensblooms and Rarebulbs)and I have "closed" this case. The ONLY info I can give right now are these:

As I stated above, I had a "long" and "painful" experience...

LONG : First payment sent through Paypal - Sept.25,2008
First shipment received - March 2, 2009

PAINFUL : $524.58 worth of hippeastrum bulbs

RE: Edens Blooms

I'll be buying Mrs Garfield from Glasshouse.

RE: Edens Blooms

Thanks everyone for your input. After reading through everything I am reconsidering my order. I can get most everything else where but was wondering if anyone had a good source for cybisters? I can find the common la Paz, emerald, and ruby meier but I am looking for some of the more exotic ones like Chico. Any suggestions? Thanks again....

lonewolf--

Just a quick look at Royalcolors.com and you'll find Chico under the menu "Specials." RC may seem expensive to some but the quality is unparalleled by most other companies. And the customer service is excellent, should in the off chance something bad happen to your bulb(s). I think its listed as 11.25 euros which by today's exchange rate is....16.11 U.S. dollars. I'm sure there are other vendors as well but RC definitely has Chico.

Chico is also at www.willowcreekgardens.com ($13.95) which is a sister company to www.easytogrowbulbs.com.

RE: Edens Blooms

My experience was not as painful as Maria's one, but I won't be going back to Edens Blooms for amaryllis bulbs this year. I still have an credit for one of the many bulbs that came in a sorry state last year which I will probably use for non-Hippeastrum bulbs. I have still yet to see blooms from more than half the varieties purchased last season. But oh well, you get what you pay for.

 o
RE: Edens Blooms

I'll put in my two bits again also. I was pleased with what I ordered several times. For the price and type, I did not expect big bulbs. Some bloomed and went dormant but stayed nice and solid and are now vigorously growing. It was clear to me that the bulbs were way out of cycle as we tend to think of bulbs shipped in by thousands/millions from Holland. If one is patient and expect to get what you paid for, I found their bulbs worth what I paid and am happy with the service.

 o
the guts!!!

And to make things WORST, RAREBULBS/EDENSBLOOMS/AARON decides to use my Magic Green picture in his current listing on Ebay WITHOUT my permission. I contacted him once through Ebay and requested him to take out my picture but he has not responded. After this, I contacted Aaron again by emailing him through Edensblooms and he has not responded too.

I wonder what's next??? Goshhhhhh...can you blame me for feeling this way? I mean, STEALING your customer's picture is unbelievable!!! And ignoring you is #$%&*!!! Sometimes I really wonder how other people value $$$ over anything else.

My pic...
Photobucket

Hope this post of mine sells all his Magic Greens and make him rich!!!

I wasn't aware that they were stealing photos for their Ebay listings... well, I know who I'm not ordering from anymore. I have ordered from them in the past, but upon finding this out, they can do without my future orders.

So sorry to hear this, Maria. You have my support.

 o
RE: Edens Blooms

You have my support as well. I had looked at a couple of their auctions but never understand why companies steal photos from others. It is not that hard to grow your own plants to get your own photos or to at least ask for permission before using others photos, especially when the photos are going to be used to sell something.

 o
RE: Edens Blooms

Dearest Maria,

Just a quick note to say that I wrote to Aaron yesterday about this unfortunate (and all too familiar) matter. My life is crazed right now, but you have my sincere love and support!

Big Hugs,

Blanca

 o
Update

Hello again,

The stolen photograph should be removed very soon.

Love ya,

B

 o
Listing Ended :-)

Aaron removed the listing. At least that is a beginning.

This is good news! Thank you so much, Blanca! We can, indeed, move mountains if we band together in support!

Most suppliers have catalogs with photographs, or send tags and information with photos, so I never understood why picture theft was necessary.

All of the photos we have for our roses come from pictures taken by us, or are pictured right on the tags and in the catalogs. I would not feel right, at all, using the picture of someone else to sell my products.

Now... if we could only get this message out to everyone who finds it easier to just lift the hard work of someone else and use it as their own...

 o
RE: Edens Blooms

Thanks guys! I did finally received an email from Aaron and a response to my request through Ebay. And he did finally took out the listing.

I am not a selfish person and understand that we have bills to pay and business to run but do it the "right way"!!! Ebay has policies about posted pictures either being "Yours" or "having permission to use". Every listing is legally binding you to agree to several Ebay policies and terms. It's not like just putting up a sign about your "yard sale".

I am typing this with slight ulcer attacks so please forgive my English and typos if ever. I KNOW a lot have responded to this 'report' in and outside this forum. Please accept my deepest gratitude and love.

HUGS to you all!

My dear Maria... please worry about taking care of YOU! I am concerned about your health, so please take care of YOU! What would we ever do without you? Get well! :-)

 o
RE: Edens Blooms

Maria, First of all, I'm with Jodi -- Please take care of yourself. Secondly, that picture of Magic Green is gorgeous, and I want it! Only problem is that I have NO more room. All of mine must be inside now so space is limited. Sorry you had all those problems with Aaron, but it's not worth destroying your body for. I'm glad you did get resolution, though. FYI seeds from you are growing and are over a year old. Yeah!

(HUGS)

Kitty! It's so wonderful to see you posting! I know how busy you are... and I'm glad you found some time to stop in!

Magic Green is a real beauty... and one I don't think I have yet. I need to check. LOL! (It's bad when your memory won't let you keep a current list of all the bulbs you have!)

 o
RE: Edens Blooms

Jodi, There's probably nothing wrong with your memory. I mean, just how many bulbs do you have????? And you expect to remember all their names? Sometimes I can't remember what I just said. There are folks that I'm sure have many more than I, but I tried to count mine as they were being brought inside. and there were approx. 130 pots. Almost all pots have anywhere from two to six (or more) bulbs. I have about given up, but will try once again and the next time make a list -- yeah, a written list. Relax, and just make a list like others I know. Please note: I do NOT have Magic Green, and unless I can part with some other plants, I probably will not own it in the near future.

I had a crummy memory BEFORE the accident where I got my head injury... and now, forget it! I can only imagine how frustrated Larry gets at times! I can't remember what I just said quite often!

In fact... when I go back and read some of my older postings, I think to myself... did I write that?! Wow!

On the one hand, it's kind of humorous... but on the other, it's incredibly frustrating! My poor husband! :-)

Magic Green, I do not have... but I do have Evergreen, and Emerald is currently a grouping of tiny bulblets from my experience with cuttage. They're nicely green, and seem to be growing quite well. It will be a few years before they bloom, though.

 o
RE: Edens Blooms

I have a couple of nice seedlings of Magic Green and something else that Cindi gave me. THey are coming along nicely inspite of my benevolent neglect in the summers. U dib't remember right now twhat they are mixed with...talk about memory! Yes, Jodi, since I Had the problem with morphine during surgery I also have trouble with a lot of small details, like word memory. Annoying for sure but it doesn't stop me from gardening at all! Sometimes it is less tiring to be around plants then people!

I will agree on that, Lizalily! Plants are quiet, and the serenity of working with them is healing, I think. Even though the work can be physical, and the sweating profuse, the type of work is cleansing, and honest. You can't get much closer to Mother Earth than when you're on your knees, trowel in hand, a big bag of tulip bulbs at your side.

As you could probably guess, I spent the afternoon planting fall bulbs in the long rose bed. I put in a ton of those greenish tulips... can't remember the name because the box is not sitting right here, next to me! I also buried quite a few alliums in different heights and sizes, and a handful of bell-flowered fritilaria.

I'm pooped, but it was a good afternoon of quiet work... just me, my trowel, and the gardens!

 o
RE: Edens Blooms

Today I planted the rest of my mini roses, about 20. Now talk about trying to remember names. Think I purchased around 80 mini roses (couldn't pass up Nor'East's sale). I put them in pots for the summer, waiting for work to be done in the back yard. Then it got to the point where it was critical to get them into the ground. I love being outside on my hands and knees, too.

Speaking of roses... I finally got everything planted! Whew! What a job that was! I'd guess we put in about 250 or more different roses this past season... with about 50 of those being miniatures! So far, the losses are at two... not bad, considering the amount of plants, and the spider mite infestation I fought so hard to eradicate!

The last rose I planted was Betty Prior... what a beauty! I moved the bird bath to accommodate her, but I think she's in a perfect spot. She will climb the small French willow tree next to her... eventually. At least, I'm hoping!

It's a shame that plant companies only have sales at the end of the season... when we're rushed for time!

I can't wait to see photos of all your little beauties, Kitty! I just adore mini roses!
