Hi All,

I thought I had read somewhere that Giraffe was classified as a cybister but now I can't find it..so maybe I was wrong and it's not a cybister after all..Is it?

Thanks,

I know it doesn't look like a cybister..it is really tiny and my bulb is not very vigirous. I planted it in the ground this year and it has 3 small clear green leaves but it won't win any prizes in the growth department.

I've also seen other pictures of Santa Cruz and they are much much lighter than mine and with stripes. I bought mine from Maria several years ago so I'm sure it's the real thing...

This was taken last year, it has only bloomed for me twice in 3 years...

In VERONICA's book, "Giraffe" and, btw "Melusine" also, are not even mentioned.

Giraffe kinda looks like a papilio hybrid to me.

'Giraffe' is an H. papilio x H. evansiae hybrid

'Santa Cruz' is a vittatum hybrid I think, I've read this is a Fred Meyer hybrid.

I think Fred's hybrids are more species like than many others, it seems he stopped at the F1 generation.
