New H. Paps are happy here

I just was out checking the Papilios that I have growing out front and found a bloom coming up between the outside set of leaves. All the Paps are doing amazing since they were repotted shortly after I received them as gifts. Seems odd to me that they are blooming at the end of a Houston-area summer, but it has been a nice summer with temps consistently in the low to mid 90s. VERY ODD FOR US!

Fingers crossed for a nice taller scape as many of the blooms I got this spring on these Paps were extremely short...0.5 to 2 inches! Another odd thing that we discussed earlier this year.

Kristi,

In nature H. papilio is actually a winter growing species, it must truly love your care so much they think they're home :)

Hippeastrum will sometimes bloom when dug up and replanted. Sometimes Papilio will not bloom for two years after transplanting.

Kristi,

I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE IT BLOOM :)

I haven't mounted H. papilio yet, I wanna tho! I've started growing Tillandsia so maybe I have mount them together?

The one Papilio I got in January put out 3 lanky leaves as soon as I potted it up semi-hydro style. It has been outside all summer, and I've pretty much ignored it until last week when I noticed that 4 more leaves were peaking out. The bulb has also bulked up a bit and a little digging revealed an offset. Now if it would just bloom already...
