What on earth did you do to get this blue color!!! Very exciting, but with no records....did you dabble with crossing something other than a Hippeastrum? I'm trying to figure out where the blue could have come from. You have quite a treasure. When the list "wakes up" and sees this, there will be much excitement. You need to protect it so it's not pollinated by anything else. Wonder if selfing it could make a bluer bloom. Cut a straw and slip it over the stigma.

What could you have possibly crossed to get this color?? It's pretty amazing!! (This is even showing up on the little screen.)

We need more information and more pictures (even though your last one was very good indeed) and if there is another flower bud on this plant we need to see what color this one is!!

Did you say this was a first time bloom?

I don't know whether or not you have this near any virused plants and I sincerely hope that this particular plant isn't. If if's virused that you've probably lost all hope of going much further with this other than an exciting novelty. Of course you can use the pollen but on what? Getting another blue flower would be like having world peace..impossible!!

If this is the real deal than you probably won't be able to improve on it so take good care of it and we all hope it's not HaHa.. blue food coloring or blue liquid fertilizer..HaHa

I had had my suspicion about the blue orchids Maria mentioned and found this on ABC news. Do I believe everything on the news?...not necessarily, but the "manufacturer" does disclose that the color is due to a patented "infusion process".

Danny, we have asked if you have used any colored fertilizer, such as MiracleGro. Have you?

I just wonder if this bloom is somehow reflecting color absorbed from a fertilizer or if there is some other miraculous explanation for this coloration. I really want to see the other buds open up!

I think it's beautiful, but I also think its fake, if it were real you would be giving us more information. But I could be wrong.

Yes, as far as I know, no one has pulled such a hoax. We did ask many questions and got no responses. I wanted to believe that somehow, the most amazing blue had "happened". Several growers in The Netherlands also said that this had to be a hoax.

Now, who are we to trust when someone shows us the perfect yellow or deep green....?
