Dear All,
Last January, I saw a thread here about good sources for Hippeastrum x johnsonii (aka St. Joseph's Lily), which is reputed to be the first Hippeastrum hybrid (Hippeastrum reginae x Hippeastrum vittatum).
Maria kindly sent me contact information for a very nice woman in Texas who grows these bulbs in abundance. I followed up with her directly, and today a wonderful package of gorgeous bulbs arrived in the mail.
This afternoon, out came the trusty jackhammer (oh, yes due to rocky soil, which is primarily decomposed granite, it's true and necessary) to prepare a new planting bed. The work is finally finished, and I'm covered with dirt.
I thought that some of you might be interested in planting some of these beautiful bulbs in your gardens. If so, send me an email through the link on My Page, and I will give you contact information. She also offers Crinum 'Royal White.'
One of her photos is shown below, and more in separate posts that follow.
Happy Gardening,
Blanca
