I'm sorry to hear that. :\ I guess I would've asked if they were willing to send a couple if they're just going to throw them out or whatever they do to bulbs they won't ship out. Sometimes there's that urge to nurse them to health and see if you can make them awesome.

Wouldn't they all be coming from the same distributor regardless of who's selling them? Do you think that the bulbs from White Flower Farm would be the same? Id be a little leary..

If someone asked Van Engelen for a sizable discount to buy a few maybe they'd they'd be happy to unload some of them...

I just called them back and asked what the problem was. I spoke with Amber. She said that they arrived with freeze damage and so they would be discarded, as when they start to rot it will effect the other bulbs. Please don't call and ask them for a deal; she said they will not be selling them at all, but look forward to offering them next year.

I asked her about the condition of the other bulbs, which she said are all inspected upon arrival, and that they are fine.

How is the search for purple rain going? Have you succeded?
If not, Maybe i could help? Bakker has Purple Rain. I do not know wether they deliver uitside the Benelux, but i could order a bulb for you and then send it to your adress. I only hope there is no problem with customs and sanitary authorities. Another option is that plant it here (otherwise it would get depleted) and then give it to you when you come to Holland for Keukenhof's Amaryllis show. Is that an idea?

Great you could find it! It's so frustrating when you want a particular cultivar and you can't find it anywhere!
