'Rebel' has a speckled tongue!!!!!!!

Hi Josh,

Yup..looks just like mine did...I though maybe they'd be a bit different... the same right down to the speckled tongue!! I hope you got a change to at least self it since Rebel sets great seedpods..I have about 15 or so from my selfing that survived and are doing very well. I only had one stalk and only two flowers though..hope you got 4 flowers..Thanks for posting, I was dying to see another one!

Aren't they beautiful!?! Mine is so bright considering they were in full sun with 45 degree nights, that is also why my 'Pencilled Peppi' had SO much pep!!!

I did self them although I don't want to grow any, I'm going to give them all away ;) (I only had two flowers tho on one scape!)

Beautiful! You can give one away here. I'm kinda new to amaryllis and have the usual ones, red, red & white, and white. Could you explain what you mean by selfing? Is this something to make them produce babies? I do have a pink one that does not produce seed and I would love to have more of it.

Selfing is where you use it's pollen on itself to create seed, most Hippeastrum ARE NOT self fertile but usually the Tetrapolid hybrids which are usually the big flowered varieties such as 'Red Lion'. Most Diploid Hippeastrum (which are primarily species) are not self fertile and need a different clone to create seed.

This plant is self fertile so it will produce seed with it's own pollen.
