Don't worry, if you're amaryllis survived for 18 years then it's going to be fine, remember when you restart the cycle for blooming, amaryllis needs very little water! Hope this helps Phil! :)

km87508, just curious, has your 18 year old Amaryllis bloomed most of the time when it is supposed to? I think it's neat that its 18 years old.

I find that when I move my hippis from their side yard (summer resort) to the greenhouse, the leaves that once stood tall on their own have bent and sometimes break. You can prop them up with a stake. They may be ready to die back anywhere, unless you grow your bulbs indoors as everygreens.

I also have an old bulb...mine is Candy Cane, and was a Christmas gift in 1991! It was the first amaryllis bulb I grew and it's still plugging along. Do you have offsets from your?? What hybrid is it?

Do you have a picture of your Candy Cane? I bought a clump off Ebay last year that was dug up from someone's yard and they called it Candy Cane..they posted a picture and I'm curious if it matches yours...Thanks,
