| The bulb is an Aussie bulb-- it was labeled Stanwick, but clearly it is not. Any guesses?
My plant
Maguire's Stanwick photo
Here is Melissa Jane
Brenhill
Mine again
NOID and Royal Velvet
Last one... it should be from the cheaper varieties on Maguire's website, but who knows which one it is. The above are my best guesses. I looked for a non-solid pink, with pink anthers and a green throat.

| I would guess you have a delicious Melissa Jane. I find mine look quite different from the pictures, usually more vivid, but what one would expect to see with a bit less sunshine intensity. I love the pink stigma like Brendan's flower had...wonder if it is a sister! |

| Thanks guys-- I don't know why there is a tinge of disappointment-- I guess it always bugs me when I get a mislabel. But i have to say-- the more I look at this MJ versus Stanwick, the more I'm glad I have MJ. I just think Stanwick is so interesting, too. MJ's bloom is very large. The photo with both MJ and Royal Velvet should show the size. Royal Velvet is enormous every time and the RV flowers are just slightly smaller than MJ. A note on RV-- I've lost track of how many times it has bloomed. But it seems every two months at this point-- so the fifth blooming this year with potentially one more? LOL I definitely hit this plant's sweet spot. Ryan |

| And the Royal Velvet offset you sent me still has the biggest most beautiful healthy leaves of any of my over 100 bulbs! It looks like it could be firing up to bloom again too! Hey everyone, I think we should all send our ailing bubs to RYan to get them healthy, sort of like people with tuberculosis used to go get healthier in that Colorado sunshine! |

| lizalily-- Glad your RV is doing so well. And it doesn't surprise me that it might be ready to bloom again. What is the size of the bulb? I don't have an actual measurement of mine, but it is easily softball size, despite the repeated blooming and the two offsets its growing. And yes, the leaves are incredible on this bulb. I wonder if other RVs share the same traits? As for sending me bulbs...well it would be difficult to send them back but I've enlisted the help of my fridge to keep my bulbs in dormancy so I have enough room on the grow shelf! please....no more bulbs! lol Mariava-- you really think its stanwick? I'll keep an eye on it as I know the colors can change over time but so far, I'm not convinced its stanwick. Beyond the dramatic differences in color, it is the coloration coming out of the throat with that burnt-red herring type color and pattern that is not there in my flower. But I guess time will tell. The blooms have finally matured this morning with the stigma (is that the right term?) coming up towards the pollen. So far the color is holding. Also, of some interest, is the culture of this bulb. It is growing in semi-hydroponics-- which means its in hydroton potting medium and at the bottom is a water reservoir. The roots have grown and reached into the water long ago. Fertilization is necessary with every watering but it has responded very well. It is growing leaves, has and has great color. The only issue is, I under estimated the size of the pot as the pot is breaking and needs to be in a larger one and soon, but only after flowering. And the best thing is, no gnats. Ryan |

| Cold temps. brought out the darker pink color in the petals and changed the color of the markings. The 'pouting' lip distinguishes it from the others. |

It's certainly a pretty pink. I find it very interesting how much the colors can vary with temps and even soils. I have to say I like the pink of yours better then Maguires! Tally HO! |
