Ace Hardware's boxed bulbs

| Ace has their bulb kits from De Groot. They have the standard red, pink, and striped. Looks like Red Lion and Minerva, but no idea what the pink is. Mostly large bulbs, but the price is a little high at $9+. Good news...my local Ace says they'll be on sale for $4.98 on Nov 1!! They have a regular pot, but then it sits in a very pretty outer pot...so at half price, it's a good deal! I told the manager that it was time to get them on sale and move 'em out!!
:-)...they love me...and gave me the sale price today. Maybe because I was having a pity-fest over the termite treatment my house got/needed today. That window/windowsill is getting pricier by the day. Let's see....I could have bought nearly 50 nice hippis...or over 100 from Lowes! YIKES!

| I'm glad you were able to get your discount, Kristi... you're off to good start for winter blooms! None of the hardware stores here have any hippeastrums, and the one store in town only has a small amount of tulips and other fall bulbs at high prices. It'll be a while before our larger stores put up their hippeastrum displays for the holidays. I can't wait! I'm hoping to find a new Apple Blossom. |

I contacted Dr Groot and was told that this is Apple Blossom. So...there ya go! K |

| I've noticed that the cheaper pinks seem to be Apple Blossom or Susan, or Pink Diamond. |

| My first hippie was an appleblossom from Ace hardware that I bought two years ago. It has been well worth the five dollars, and sold me on these plants. It has bloomed two or three times a year, and is getting a scape now! |
