Komoriya order

bluebonsai101

For those interested, my friend finally has a break-through!!! He got the following info and I will follow up and ask a few more obvious questions:

Here is the salient part of the message I received:

Hello Dan,

I could contact with Komoriya.

He said as below.

1. He can handle only wholesale of Hippeastrum hybrid.

2. Minimum order is 50 bulbs.

3. Shipping period will be started from late June.

4. Parentage of hybrid are H.orientalis, appendiculata, minor, marginata and

so on.

So, we have some time obviously if it is next June. The question is: Is it 50 bulbs per hybrid or 50 bulbs total which would be a very small order of course. What are the prices?

I will try to find out more info over the next few weeks and with any luck this will actually come about as an order next summer!!

If I can send him a preliminary order before Christmas we will see where we stand.....please do not respond to me with your wish list as I am just facilitating, not ordering :o) Dan

OMG Dan, you are the man of the hour

I am so excited, and pray that wholesale = 50 bulbs total, which we can easily exceed.

Please extend my thanks and best regards to your friend in Japan.

    Cheers, Blanca
P.S. Do you think that the gorgeous Brunslycori will be available

I really hope he has the Brusvigia crosses with other genera available...those I will be very interested in.....heck, there are some lovely hybrids there as well so I should break down and get something that my wife would actually like as well :o) Dan

    Hi Dan,

After seeing your basement setup, it is difficult to believe that your wife does not enjoy seeing all those wonders.

Some years ago a good friend of mine did buy them in Japan and gave them to me. But he is now back in Germany and the source did run out!
My oboroziki sadly did die last year!
This variety is not easy to grow!

Oh, how exciting! I do hope it works out for us to do the order!
I'll have to have my husband describe the pics from Frank.
By the way, Frank, do you recall if any of those you posted are scented?

Michelle i think my senses are not so sharp, to find out, but i try , when the next is flowering. I still have probs to smell Appleblossom and Picotee and most of the people say, they are fragrant!

Is there any source besides Fishing Dentist for photos of the varieties we could order? The Komoriya site only shows a few of them. I like what I am seeing but would like to know what size, and a whole lot more about them so I can make good choices.

Handsome dog! Keep me in mind if you order for #113 and #131. I have a Japanese connection via a friend's husband who is a sale rep for a Japanese drug company. Last I heard, John was learning Japanese! and had spent 10 days vacationing in Japan this last spring with 3 friends. Maybe we could get him to help with this order.

i spent a long while on Google learning about the magyar vizslas. but the Google dogs are NOT as handsome as your Don. It's his HEAD! that square [not pointed]JAW!!He is a heart stopper.

The history of the breed- at least 1000 yrs; 1st written about in the 1300's-was so interesting.I notice he's still
a boy;you're going to breed him? how many others have you had? is his breeder in hungary?what made you choose a viszla over a weimeraner?

google says tVs are 'velcro dogs' always wanting to be next to you. true? but also friendly to other people? and dogs? Sleeps w/ you? (i know, i don't ask many questions...; hope you don't feel invaded. :) but i can't help it; he is just so special....)
My Love says that vizslas always look so serious(he loves the smiley golden retrievers); does Don clown at all?
    thanks so much.
    I am hopelessly in love,
    mindy

(p.s. if you have a web photo album, i would really love to see more of him. IF it were easy for you, you could send me jpegs or a link at: cottonarboretum@comcast.net )But plse don't trouble yourself.I know how busy our lives are.

  • fishing_dentist

    Dear Mindy!
Don is still a boy and i maybe want to breed in the future, when time allowes this. In time he is my fitness- trainer and a really good friend. I did fell in love to this kind of dog a couple of years ago and i must say i did it in the right time and i did find the right dog. Don is a real Mercury! He is very intelligent and needs a lot of training and exercises. Otherwise he becomes bored. He ia bred for hunting and You will feel that.
A Weimaraner never whas in the race. I dont like the color and the caracter too. I did Choose between Ridgeback and Viszla. Because i did see Ridgebacks in South africa and they are nice too. But they are in time to big for my situation. And good Ridgebacks you get in South Africa and not in the US or Germany. But to bring it to here is quite difficult. Hungary is just 7 hours driving away from me and i did stay in contact with the breeder for a long time (4years) The website You will find here: http://www.vadaszfaivizsla.hu/introduction.html

Dons true name is szikla and that means "rock"
They where 6 girls and one boy and i did socialise him very well so he is friendly to other people and dogs too and likes to play a lot. I did never had an agressive situation except other dogs did attack him.
He likes to play with children but i have to stop him sometimes for becoming not to rude in playing.(he is jumping a lot and stands in front of You and in the next second kisses Your nose!) :-)
This he whas at his 1 birthday
    {{gwi:433161}}
leftclick to the picture and follow the album a bit more and You see some more pictures of him especially the puppy- fotos!
But take care! That makes You addicted !!!
    And now backtopic!
    Best regards and thanks
    Frank

    Beautiful dog Frank!

Does anyone know what the price range on the bulbs will be? If I missed it in an earlier post, I apologize.

    Thanks,

I for one do not mind any side tracks into the world of dogs, being as besotted with them as with my growing of bulbs and other plants. I find the whole world of dogs fascinating. And thanks all for seeing the photos of my two young Gordon Setters. Somehow it seems that for many of us the love of growing extends to more then the world of amaryllis. I did not know much about this breed of dog and enjoyed the introduction.

  • ajsblu_eyes

The price range is uncertain I am estimating based on a Japanese website that is selling the bulbs we want. The prices on the site range from $31 to $46 per amaryllis bulb. This is not including the shipping and import costs. If anyone has a more up to date price range please chime in.

    AJ,

If they really happen to be those prices I'm not sure I will include myself into this order, while I absolutely love Hippeastrum I just can't validate 400 dollars on 10 bulbs :(

Nobody has an accurate price list as no one has heard from Mr. Komoriya to the best of my knowledge. I e-mailed a couple of weeks back with the info my friend in Japan gave me and have not heard back. However, I have sort of forgotten about this and did not e-mail again....I will try to do that this weekend if I can remember/find the time. I will let everyone know if I hear anything, but beyond that will not post again.

$40/bulb if it is a bulb I really want is not bad at all.....I will not spend that much on a Hippi, but for other bulbs I will surely spend that much happily and feel like I stole it :o) Dan

  • joshy46013

    Dan,

Thank you so much for all the effort, I hope we can get a hold of a price list :)

The thing about the $40 dollar price tag isn't necessarily a turn off unless the regular price is half if not a quarter what they're asking. There is a market for Hippeastrum hybrids, not so much for many of the odd and strange bulbs that you and I both enjoy, in that case the "reasonable" price is whatever you'd pay. In this case I could buy two top quality Maguire bulbs for the price of one "miniature" offered through Komoriya. Whether others feel similiar I'm not sure, it depends on demand for these. Maybe the price is why retailers in the US or anywhere else for that matter doesn't carry them?!

Hopefully the list we acquire from Komoriya is a bit more reasonable :)

  • quail

I'm sure we'd all like the price to be lower than higher, but given the size of the bulbs... If the sizes listed on the English site are accurate, the ones I'm interested in getting are HUGE!
Oh, and remember, if the price turns out to be higher than lower, that doesn't mean you can't get any. You could still get some, just perhaps not as many :) Of course, then you have to pick and choose more...

    Got this e-mail today:

    Hello,

    An answer was late.
Brunsvigia HY. Mix is all right with 50 pitches.
A contracted interpreter died and became inconvenient.
    I'm sorry.

    Regards,

    Satoshi Komoriya
    Komoriya Nursery

I have no clue what it means so asked for a price list again and clarification regarding how many of each hybrid we have to order......50 of each means no way, 50 total is pretty easy I would assume. I'll let you know if I hear back again :o) Dan

I found somewhere on their website the minimum order for overseas is 20,000 yen, 50 bulbs mix would make sense if that's the case ;)

    Anything new on this?

I just wanted to follow up on this post to see if there were any new details about this possible order? I have not been on the forum much lately and I am still interested in ordering.

    Dianne,

Good question, I have not heard anything new from Dan who recommended we wait till we have a price list before committing to the order. If anyone has heard anything different please let us know.
