bulbs and more bulbs!

Had to go to Walmart on Friday. They have NO boxed bulbs! Weird since last week they had a ton. But they did have potted amaryllis in bud. So, of course some jumped in my cart. $7.50. Minerva, orange soverign, bolero, red lion. I only bought Minerva X 1 & 2 bolero.
As you can see I'm off to a good start on feeding my addiction this year. Maas should have the rest of theirs in by Friday, my day off. Yesterday was perfect and I spent all day out in the garden. The amaryllis are all doing great, I forget how many I actually have planted out there.

Tally, that's exactly how I feel too, like there's "bulbs and more bulbs" this time of year. Funny how fast those bulbs fly off the shelves - seems like we're not alone in our obsession! Alana

I've noticed that, too... I think they're gaining in popularity, especially now that more new varieties are hitting the market.

With a rise in popularity of anything comes the opportunist to make money from it... so buyer beware, because quality will begin to suffer.

I just purchased a bulb that has a hole in it... it looks suspiciously like NBF. It's going back to the store for a refund.

beachplant, I,too, bought a Bolero at WalMart last week. The flower has opened enough for me to know that it is NOT Bolero. It appears to have red or pink markings on a white or creamy white petal. If I can figure out how to post a picture, I will when it blooms and possibly get an ID. Good luck with yours. I really don't mind that it is not Bolero, but here's hoping it's something I don't have!

For $7.50 I don't really care either. It's cheaper than cut flowers and the bulbs will go out in my garden when they finish blooming. They all go out in the garden after blooming!LOL!
