In zone 8 they are hardy with a thick layer of mulch. I pile the leaves up over them!

I would think older more established bulb would do ok. What about sinking the pots and just pulling those up? I did lose some bulbs last year to freeze damage.

Oooooh thanks Kristi!! They told me at Van Engelen that it was hardy in places like Florida but I wanted to give it a try. It looks like its a gorgeous shade of pink. I may try it and mulch it real good and pray for the best. Thanks, Judy

The St. Josephs lily (hippeastrum x johnsonii ) is a hardy hippeastrum in your area. I doubt that 'Susan' would make it.

'Appleblossom' probably would make it, it's another of the hardier types!
