I'm assuming since they sold them as H. equestre they imported them from Asia where they're sold majorly on ebay. This and another source (in the UK) are the only ones that refer to them as this old name. All of these plants seem to be heavily virused and I think it has a lot to do with the way they propagate them in large quantities and aren't so sterile about it.

The H. roseum (synonym H. stylosum) they sell from overseas is also heavily virused and I've heard some reports their "Red" reticulatum as well as Ms. Garfield are too. Note, these are also hybrids and very rarely are they selling the true species.
