Hi everyone, While repotting my armaryllis today, I found this bad boy on the root of my bulb. The bulb appear to be heathy and all but I want to make sure.
This guy doesn't really look like the NBF maggot to me. They are usually a dirty white color; this guy has a fancy front and back with a transparent middle. Also the NFB maggot always bores a large hole in the bulb just above the basal plate and eats away the inside of the bulb during the winter if not detected. As far as I know they aren't interested in the roots.
it looks like a "grub"....I don't know what grubs are a larve of...some sort of beetle. We get them in our yards here. I should send the local armadillo to your house. They wreck my yard looking for these tasty morsels! K
