Don't know why it always happens to you, but it happens to all of us from time to time. If we really knew why, we could prevent it! I always try to keep my blooms and pods at fairly constant temps, just avoiding wide temperature swings, and avoiding stressing the bulb. Not that simple!

If you wait a bit, many of us will have loads of interesting seeds to share...just for the asking. By selfing your Red Lions, you'll just end up with lots of red amaryllis!!! You can't even call them Red Lion... You have to call them RL selfs.

Good luck!! The biggest attribute you can have is patience! Disappointment is pretty common in this hobby! Virus, narcissus bulb fly, rot are all things that can derail your growing plans!

I am surprised that Red Lion wouldn't self for you...But, as Kristi says keep your eyes on this forum and in the next few month many of us should have extra seeds that we would be more than happy to mail to you. Many of us do it every year as we love to pollinate but don't need anywhere near as many seeds as we end up with..Red x red will get you nothing but red and red x something else will most likely still get you red. Red is dominant and most of us don't use red unless it's with something like papilio or of course, if all you really like is red...
Check in the forum every now and then and you just may end up with more seeds than you ever dreamed!

You can buy from ebay, can't you? Many times there are very interesting varieties posted there! I've also seen lots of seeds for sale on eBay too.
