Switching Betta fish to a new tank with a filter

I currently have a male betta in a 1 gallon tank with no filter, I have had him for over a year. I wanted to switch him to a bigger, 2.5 gallon tank with a filter. I wondered if getting a filter would hurt him at all since he is not used to it.

You'd be better posting this on the discussion forum [this is photo gallery]. You should be ok if the water movement is not too strong. Betta's are more suited to calm waters, there not great swimmers as fish go.
