What size tank would be best?

Okay.. so I'm finally going to get a larger aquarium. High nitrites are still quite a battle with the 10 gallon and I don't want to lose my goldfish after all this time. (http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/load/aquarium/msg0121473823936.html?3)

So my question now is, what would be the best reasonable size of aquarium tank for this single 4-5" goldfish? Is 25 gallon a good size or do I really need to go to 30 gallons. In the spring, I'll be putting this fish back in the pond, so I'll only need the aquarium till then, however if I ever need to bring one indoors again, or I might decide to bring in the babies in the the winter, then I could use this larger aquarium for that.

As for filters, I've read good things about the Aqua Clear and think I'll go with that brand. But what size do I need? The Aqua Clear 30?

Any other suggestions would be great! Thanks. JC
