see, they will start begging pretty soon, and you won't be able to part with them! glad to hear it!

I have three angelfish. They've lived with me for about 2 1/2 years. There's scarcely a day that goes by that they aren't fighting with each other. Unlike some of the other species that I've kept, the fighting doesn't result in any noticeable damage to any of them. so, I just accept this behavior as an inevitable part of their personalities. My angelfish are ALWAYS begging for food and, as their tank is right next to my computer, they will come to the closest side and stare at me while I am reading and typing. I agree with you, that they are very intelligent creatures too. Don't let the occaissional bickering stress you out. Actually, I don't know of any fish species that doesn't engage in this behavior from time to time. I have a large school of Cardinal tetras (20) in another tank and even they, who are known for their peaceful, non-agressive disposition, have their pecking order and the little riffs that go along with that.

Funny how these fish got their name angel since they can be aggressive. I know! they are actually guardian angel fish. I am glad you are enjoying your angels. They are beautiful fish.

i jsut realized, if you have a breeding pair, you have seen nothing yet. wait until you see them "lock lips" and shake each other back and forth! it can look pretty bad but they are okay. so, don't panic if you ahven't seen this already.

I looooove angelfish!! And when mine spawned (by my surprise) I loved them even more. They are great fish...enjoy them!

Thanks everyone. I guess they are called angels because of the way they look not the way they behave.

Mine are constantly "hungry" as well.
