I'm taking some of the water out of my present fish and live plants tank and some used filter wool and adding well water and circulating it with my filter pump.

It's registering no ammonia (the first colour on the chart)and 6.8 ph.

I'm going now to put in some live plants, but wait for a week before I start moving the fish slowly from the old tank.

Am I doing this right? I've not bought any of the "helpers" as I've read that many of them don't work and that the one that does, has to be acquired on the net and also I should not need them, if I'm understanding all the various posts. The fish I have to move are Danios and Platies and Hatchets and Rasboros.

Any advice please...I don't want to make my babies die...
