An interesting idea but can't imagine how the filter system would work. Not only the poop but seeds and hulls.
There are filters that could handle it but probably wouldn't be "cheap.low maintenence lol.

Why 220 power? My new home is in Iceland. :) I have transformers, but it's best if it runs on mains.

His food won't be around the water. He may take a piece of food or toy up there some time, but I don't plan to keep any up there on a long-term basis (and if need be, I could have the water cascade down through aluminum mesh, which I already have on-hand). His waste (not to get too graphic) consists of three parts -- two are liquidy (the urine and the urates) and one is solid but loose. There are no "rigid" components in the solid part like husks or anything, at least not that I've ever noticed. Of course, he doesn't really like eating anything with husks; he even eats around potato skins. Overall, it kind of looks like fish waste, so I would think aquarium filter systems should be able to handle it.
