I have a 4in. Jack Dempsey cichlid, that seems to be extremely stressed out. He darts and crashs around the tank when I walk by or sits listless on the bottom of the tank trying to hide. I currently have him in a 30 gallon tank. I perform regular water changes and the test strips I use don't show anything out of the ordinary.

What sort of hiding places do you have for him? Jack are normally fairly nervous, but with plenty of places to hide, he will feel more secure. Is he a new purchase? It also takes them a little time to become acclumated to their new surroundings. HTH

I'll try and find some sort of structure for him to hide in. I've had him for over 6 months now. Thanks for the info.

Cpincidently, I was going to suggest places to hide, like shale or clay pots.
