Doing betta

Well I am into plants like 70 species of Carnivores then I am wanting to do fish with my plants so I want to try a betta in a 2 gallon vase with some aquatic plant gravel for aquarium usage with a small oxygenating aquatic plant with a small mini heater. Is this a good idea for a nice looking setup for say my mom's kitchen ? Is it an okay idea ? My house is like always cold so I was thinking a heater set to like 75 degrees /78F would be okay since Betta have that ability to tolerate low oxygen water and the lowlight aquatic would help lessen water changes. I want to get into fish and do a whiskey barrel garden but I thought why not go small and simplistic first ?
