Cotton Tuft On My Rainbowfish

Robert_in_Paradise

Hi,

My name is Robert. I have never posted here before. I sometimes lurk about in the daylily forum...didn't even know there was an aquarium forum...:-)

Anyway, I have a Turquoise Rainbowfish (Melanotaenia lucustris) that has just developed a very small, maybe 1.5 mm, cottonball-like tuft on the side of his body. Anybody know what this is? Would aquarium salt help or cure it? Would Quick Cure cure it? I have Quick Cure on hand, but I've never used it before. I would rather just use salt if possible. I can move him into a quarantine tank to treat him, and I'm hoping someone will answer soon, cause I'm getting a little nervous...

Thanks in advance,

-Robert
