I wouldn't think that it would harm them. Dogs and cats aren't as sensitive to bacterias as humans. My dogs and cats never got sick from drinking aquarium water from a bucket or tank. They also have drank nastier water then that, puddles toilet bowl etc.

I was wondering where you got your Java Moss? I cannot find it locally and to order it I would have to pay quite a bit for shipping just to get a small amount. On-line prices for the moss are fair enough, but the shipping is more than I can shell out for right now.

For some reason, no one here carries it either! I went to Pet Supplies Plus and they special ordered it for me. It was like $6 for a base-ball sized wad.

Go to ebay. There is some guy running a ebay aquarium plant store, he has no shipping! (Im not him, just had good experience ordering from this person) I ordered 4 different plants, good size bunches for under $15 and no shipping charge. I do not think I can mention his ebay store name on this form. Anyway, search ebay for java moss, youll find his store. He has tons of stuff. He mails it in a bag inside of a box. The plants for me came in very good condition, snail free. The only problem is he does not offer 1 or 2 day air. It took me 3 days to get it. For java moss, I dont think that amount of time will hurt it. Good luck.
