Changing Filters--run 'em both for how long?

I'm switching filters on my 75 gallon planted aquarium. I have an Aquaclear (the big boy...whatever it's called) and last week I picked up a Fluval 305. I've been running both since last Sunday. How long should I keep them both running? I was thinking 2-4 weeks to let the bacteria build up on the Fluval before I shut the AquaClear. Care to opine?

If you can take the sponge and any other bio-media you use in the Aquaclear and fit it in the Fluval just trim it to fit with the Fluvals media then just change it.
