Algae and Oscar problem!

There is Algae growing out of holes in my Oscars Head, its just above each of his eyes.

It is NOT hole in Head disease, he's always had two small holes like its nostrils just above his eye's.

does anyone have any suggestions as ive tryed everthing from tweeking the cycle to Long term Algae Treatment,

(and the pleco's started looking at him with 'That looks tasty' writen all over his face)

Is the "algae" actually green?

It does sound like possible hexamita (hole in the head disease). An oscar's nostrils are between the eyes and the lips. If the holes are actually above/behind the eyes, then you have a problem.

The holes can be present for some time before the fish actually appears be to sick. How long have you had the fish?
